How does the state's redistricting impact Wilmington-area voters?

The maps in effect for the 2020 election have also changed North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District and the local state Senate districts, with the northern edge of New Hanover County moving from District 9 to District 8, which also includes Brunswick and Pender counties. Incumbent William Rabon, a Republican, is running against Democrat David Sink Jr., and Libertarian Anthony Mascolo. Voters in most of New Hanover county will see incumbent Harper Peterson, a Democrat, on the ballot against Republican Michael Lee.
